Discount management

Create discount codes, automatic discounts and free delivery offers. Explore eligibility, optional rules, status, usage history and managing saved discounts.

Create a discount code

  1. Open Create discount

Open Discounts and choose Create discount. This guide creates a fictional discount code.

  2. Review the offer types

The chooser offers Discount code, Automatic discount and Free delivery. This example uses a code customers enter at checkout.

  3. Choose Discount code

Choose Discount code to open Create discount code. Automatic discounts and free delivery have their own creation forms.

  4. Review the discount-code form

Create discount code has required offer name, code and amount fields, followed by Applies to, Optional settings and the live Offer summary.

  5. Name the offer

Enter Mug offer in Offer name. This required name identifies the offer in your discount list and details.

  6. Enter the checkout code

Enter MUG10 in Discount code. The app makes letters uppercase and removes whitespace as you type. A code is required and must be unique within your store.

  7. Check the name and code

Review Mug offer and MUG10. These are different fields: the offer name identifies the promotion and customers enter the code at checkout.

  8. Enter the discount amount

Enter 10 in Discount amount. The amount must be greater than zero; percentage discounts cannot exceed 100.

  9. Review the value types

Open Type to review Percentage (%) and Fixed amount. Fixed amounts use the store currency.

  10. Keep Percentage (%)

Choose Percentage (%) for this example, giving a ten-percent discount. This is a percentage, not a ten-dollar reduction.

  11. Check the percentage value

Check Discount amount 10 and Type Percentage (%). The selector is closed and the form summary reflects a ten-percent offer.

  12. Open Applies to

Applies to starts at Entire order. Open the selector to review Entire order, Specific products and Specific categories.

  13. Choose Specific products

Choose Specific products to discount only selected product lines. A product-scoped offer must have at least one product selected.

  14. Find the product

Use Search… to find Everyday ceramic mug in the product list. Searching filters the choices; it does not select a product.

  15. Select the ceramic mug

Check Everyday ceramic mug. The selected count updates to one.

  16. Check the selected scope

Review Specific products and the checked mug. Any minimum purchase rule will still examine the whole cart; only savings are limited to these selected products.

  17. Open Optional settings

Choose Optional settings to add a minimum purchase or usage limits. Changes stay in this dialog until Apply settings is chosen.

  18. Open Minimum purchase

Minimum purchase starts at None. Open it to review None, Minimum amount and Minimum number of items.

  19. Choose Minimum amount

Choose Minimum amount for a cart-value requirement in your store currency.

  20. Enter the minimum cart amount

Enter 50 for a minimum purchase of 50.00 USD. This threshold considers the entire cart.

  21. Limit total uses

Enter 100 in Total uses. Leaving this field empty keeps total uses Unlimited.

  22. Limit uses per customer

Enter 1 in Uses per customer. Limits are enabled by entering a number; there are no separate switches.

  23. Cap percentage savings

Enter 10 in Maximum savings per order · percentage only. This caps savings at 10.00 USD for each qualifying order. An empty field means No maximum.

  24. Apply the purchase and usage rules

Choose Apply settings to copy these rules into the discount form. This does not save the discount to your store.

  25. Review the updated offer summary

Offer summary reflects the 50.00 USD minimum, 100 total uses, one use per customer and 10.00 USD savings cap. Save discount is still needed.

  26. Review dates and the team note

Reopen Optional settings. The previously applied purchase and usage rules remain in the form.

  27. Keep the default active dates

Review Start: Now and End: No end date. This example starts immediately without an end date. These buttons open calendars when a schedule is needed.

  28. Add an optional team note

Enter a short note in Note for your team · optional. This note is kept with the offer details.

  29. Apply the optional settings

Choose Apply settings to keep the default dates and add the team note to the form. Cancel would discard changes made in this dialog.

  30. Check the form after applying

The settings dialog closes. Offer summary still shows Starts now and No end date, along with the applied purchase and usage rules.

  31. Review the complete offer

Check MUG10, ten percent off the selected mug, the 50.00 USD cart minimum, 100 total uses, one use per customer and the 10.00 USD savings cap.

  32. Save the discount

Choose Save discount in the page header. The app validates the offer and saves its code, value, scope and optional rules. Review any validation or duplicate-code error before retrying.

  33. Wait for saving

Save discount changes to Saving… while the request is pending. A successful save opens the discount details.

  34. Review the saved discount

Mug offer opens as Active with a ten-percent discount and zero uses. The offer starts immediately and has no end date.

  35. Check the saved rules

Offer details shows Specific products (1), the minimum purchase, usage limits, savings cap and team note. Schedule confirms Immediately and No end date.

  36. Review usage history

Usage history says Not used on any order yet. Creating the discount does not apply it to an order.

Discount features

Find an offer

Search titles and codes, then filter by status and type. Search checks the saved title and code without case sensitivity. Status tabs use the effective status: Active, Scheduled, Expired, Limit reached or Inactive. The type filter distinguishes Discount code, Automatic discount and Free delivery. Search and filter changes return to page one; they do not change saved offers.

Use the desktop table

Sort columns and open the row actions menu. The desktop table starts with Active period descending. Sortable headers cycle ascending, descending and cleared sorting. This changes the displayed list. The dots menu provides View, Edit, Activate or Deactivate, and Delete. Mobile cards link to details, where the same management actions are available. The pagination footer is present even for one page.

Create an automatic discount

Apply a percentage or fixed amount without a code. Choose Create discount → Automatic discount. Enter an offer name and a positive amount, then choose Percentage or Fixed amount. Percentage values cannot exceed 100. Automatic offers can apply to the entire order, specific products or specific categories. This example saves 5% off the entire order with default optional settings. Checkout selects one promotion per order; this example does not promise stacked offers.

Create a free delivery offer

Remove delivery fees on qualifying orders. Choose Create discount → Free delivery. New free delivery offers collect a name and optional minimum order amount, with additional rules under Optional settings. They have no code, discount amount or product-scope control. The saved detail page identifies Delivery fee as the scope. This example requires a 30.00 USD order. Existing legacy coded delivery offers retain their code when edited.

Review offer details and usage

Check the rules and the orders that used an offer. Open a saved offer to see its effective status, discount value, times used, scope, minimum purchase and usage limits. Schedule details display dates and times in UTC. Usage history shows the latest 100 uses in a table, including order, customer, order total in each order’s currency and used-on time. On mobile the table scrolls horizontally. Order totals are not savings amounts.

Activate or deactivate an offer

Control availability while retaining the saved history. Use Activate or Deactivate on the details page; desktop also provides the action in each row menu. The action changes the manual status immediately without a confirmation dialog. Effective status also checks dates and total uses. Activating an offer can still leave it Scheduled, Expired or Limit reached. Deactivating preserves the offer and its usage history.

Edit a saved discount

Update the existing offer and keep its recorded uses. Open details and choose Edit, or use Edit in the desktop row menu. The form loads the existing offer type and saved settings. Save discount updates that same record. The example changes 10% to 12%, retaining WELCOME10 and both usage-history records.

Update active dates

Apply date settings, then save the offer. Open an offer → Edit → Optional settings. Start defaults to Now and End to No end date; either field opens a day calendar, with a clear action for its default. Apply settings updates only the form draft. Save discount persists the changes. An end before the start is rejected. The example extends an existing scheduled offer without changing its minimum or usage limits.

Delete a discount

Review the offer and the effect on usage history. Open the offer and choose Delete. The confirmation identifies its title, code or type, and recorded uses. Cancel leaves the offer available. Delete discount permanently removes the discount and its usage history. Orders that already used it retain their totals. The example removes only Welcome offer.
